I stumbled across this gem while scrolling Threads the other day:
I, too, am wondering where the handbasket is. You?

The wisest people are encouraging us to pay attention to what’s happening in the world, but not too much attention.
Where’s the line?
If you find it, will you let me know? It might be near the handbaskets.
I’ve felt (still feel) a constant mid-level churning in my gut. I want it to go away as much as I want to stop asking how we got to this place where so many people who claim to be Christians are celebrating the cruelty and lawlessness of our new(old) president.
I keep asking because the answers I’ve received don’t make sense.
While I look for the handbasket and a satisfying answer, I do what I can:
Donate to World Relief to help fill the gap left when the current presidential administration blocked funds necessary for refugee resettlement (funds the US had promised to give them).
Call my representatives.
Turn my attention away from algorithm-driven social media.
Wear my Bad Church Ladies t-shirt to honor the pockets of resistance that exist within so many faith communities who have seen the best and worst of what has been done in the name of Jesus and still hold on to hope and do what they can to embody that hope.
We might have to create our own handbaskets.
