I recorded an interview with Pete Singer several years ago and I asked him about what he would say to people who push back against folks who are advocating for safe spaces in Christian communities as “too sensitive.”
This is what he said:
“I would say that people today I think are more sensitive than they used to be. I had cancer several years ago. I'm more sensitive to any indications of cancer than I used to be.
Yeah. That's not because I'm wrong, to be more sensitive, I. It's because now I understand more than I used to and because I understand more, yes. I am more sensitive about that. So being more sensitive is not necessarily a bad thing. Being more sensitive might actually be a product of having more knowledge.”
When we recorded the conversation, he had no idea that he would have a recurrence of cancer and that it would take his life.
Reading the tributes that have been shared about him makes it evident that he was loved by many. He will be missed.
I decided to reshare Pete’s conversation on the podcast this week. I would love for you to listen to his words and wisdom.
